Hi, I am Jen...
In the dynamic world of design and entrepreneurship, I am a thought leader in creativity, innovation, and youth mentorship. As a Professor of Practice at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, I share my knowledge and passion for graphic design and creative thinking with my students. But my journey to academia is just one chapter in a story filled with remarkable achievements, entrepreneurial spirit, and accolades.
Entrepreneur:
My entrepreneurial spirit also runs deep. Fifteen years ago, I embarked on a new venture by founding Pincurl Girls. Through this business, I turn my illustrations into an array of products, from calendars to throw blankets, captivating audiences with my distinctive style. I also nurture creativity among young girls through the Art Gang, an online art group where I provide daily challenges and foster a supportive community for budding artists.
Author:
In addition to my creative endeavors, I am an award-winning published author, having written the empowering book "Skip the Bad Songs, The Art of Rocking a Happy Mindset." Geared towards tweens and teens, this book serves as a toolkit for overcoming insecurities and cultivating self-confidence through the power of positive thinking—a testament to my commitment to empowering the next generation.
Recognition:
My contributions to entrepreneurship and youth education have garnered recognition and acclaim. I am the recipient of the Lincoln Inspire Award for Excellence in Entrepreneurship, celebrating my innovative spirit and the impact my business has made. Furthermore, my dedication to fostering creativity and education has been honored with the prestigious Mayor's Art Award for Youth Education. I also give back to the advertising world by serving as the 1st Lieutenant Governor for the American Advertising Federation’s District 9.
Educator, Public Speaker:
Beyond my professional endeavors, I am an inspirational speaker, captivating audiences with my passion, wisdom, and insights. Whether on stage or in the classroom, I share my experiences, challenges, and triumphs, inspiring others to pursue their passions and unlock their potential.
Mentor:
Through my myriad ventures, accolades, and unwavering commitment to mentorship, I embody the essence of a creative force, mentor, and award-winning innovator. As I continue to inspire, empower, and lead by example, I leave an indelible mark on the world of design, entrepreneurship, and education.
I am in your corner cheering you on. Think of me and my art, books and clubs as your go to source to help you feel less alone and encourage you to have the self-confidence and guts to work towards your goals & dreams. You have everything you need inside of you to make your dreams come true. And now with me by your side, you’ll have another positive voice telling you...anything is possible.
Special message for the grown-ups
I believe, like I imagine you do, that we are surrounded by too many negative, hurtful defeating voices and images. I started drawing and writing to provide an affirming, positive counterbalance to the unrealistic models in magazines and unkind facebook posts that are a part of our daily lives. All of my products, books and courses have encouraging images and messages specially chosen to support and encourage girls of all ages. As a mother, artist, entrepreneur and motivational speaker, I thrive on inspiring others by sharing my journey of self-doubt to self-love!
FAQs
What does Pincurl Girls mean? My mom used to put pincurls in my hair when I was younger. I dreamed of waking up with beautiful hair. However, only crunchy not prefect curls came out. So, I would feel self-conscious about the way I looked all day at school. So to me Pincurl Girls help remind me that even with bad hair, I can still find happiness.
Is Jen Landis Co a socially responsible company? Yes, I work hard to make a difference in the lives of both woman and girls. My product are created to inspire, encourage and lessen self-doubt. 20% of all sales are placed in the GIRLBRAVE Scholarship Fund.
What is the GIRLBRAVE Girl Scholarship Fund? Although my products give positive messaging, I felt the need to do more to encourage girls so I started a scholarship fund that gives one girl $200 every quarter to a girl who has the drive and courage to work toward her goals. The money can help to pay for art lessons, dance class, summer STEM camps or anything that will help her achieve her goal.
